This is my Father’s world: I rest me in the thought of rocks and trees, of skies and seas; His hand the wonders wrought. ----- This is my Father’s world, the birds their carols raise, the morning light, the lily white, declare their maker’s praise. This is my Father’s world; he shines in all that’s fair; in the rustling grass, I hear Him pass; He speaks to me everywhere. ----- This is my Father’s world. O let me ne’er forget that though the wrong seems oft so strong, God is the ruler yet. This is my Father’s world: why should my heart be sad? The Lord is King; let the heavens ring! God reigns; let the earth be glad! ----- Liturgy Read together in an attitude of prayer Please all stand and join in. ----- God our Father, we give you thanks and praise for fathers young and old. We pray for young fathers, newly embracing their vocation. May they find courage and perseverance to balance work, family, and faith in joy and sacrifice. ----- We pray for fathers worldwide whose children are lost or suffering. May they know that the God of compassion walks with them in their sorrow. We pray for men who are not fathers but still mentor and guide us with fatherly love and advice. ----- We remember fathers, grandfathers, and great grandfathers who are no longer with us but live forever in our memory and nourish us with their love. Amen. ----- Gloria Patri - Page 70 Please Stand as We sing ----- Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be: World without end. Amen. ----- Anthem Choir ----- Scripture Luke 8:26-39 ----- They sailed to the region of the Gerasenes, which is across the lake from Galilee. Luke 8:26 ----- When Jesus stepped ashore, he was met by a demon-possessed man from the town. For a long time this man had not worn clothes or lived in a house, but had lived in the tombs. Luke 8:27 ----- When he saw Jesus, he cried out and fell at his feet, shouting at the top of his voice, “What do you want with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg you, don’t torture me!” Luke 8:28 ----- For Jesus had commanded the impure spirit to come out of the man. Many times it had seized him, and though he was chained hand and foot and kept under guard, he had broken his chains and had been driven by the demon into solitary places. Luke 8:29 ----- Jesus asked him, “What is your name?” “Legion,” he replied, because many demons had gone into him. Luke 8:30 ----- And they begged Jesus repeatedly not to order them to go into the Abyss. Luke 8:31 ----- A large herd of pigs was feeding there on the hillside. The demons begged Jesus to let them go into the pigs, and he gave them permission. Luke 8:32 ----- When the demons came out of the man, they went into the pigs, and the herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and was drowned. Luke 8:33 ----- When those tending the pigs saw what had happened, they ran off and reported this in the town and countryside, Luke 8:34 ----- and the people went out to see what had happened. When they came to Jesus, they found the man from whom the demons had gone out, sitting at Jesus’ feet, dressed and in his right mind; and they were afraid. Luke 8:35 ----- Those who had seen it told the people how the demon-possessed man had been cured. Luke 8:36 ----- Then all the people of the region of the Gerasenes asked Jesus to leave them, because they were overcome with fear. So he got into the boat and left. Luke 8:37 ----- The man from whom the demons had gone out begged to go with him, but Jesus sent him away, saying, Luke 8:38 ----- “Return home and tell how much God has done for you.” So the man went away and told all over town how much Jesus had done for him. Luke 8:39 ----- Sermon Son of the Most High God Pastor Kenny Lee ----- Hymn of Invitation He Touched Me - Page 367 Please stand as We Sing ----- Shackled by a heavy burden, neath a load of guilt and shame, then the hand of Jesus touched me, and now I am no longer the same. He touched me, O he touched me, and O the joy that floods my soul! Something happened, and now I know, He touched me and made me whole. ----- Since I met this blessed Savior since He cleansed and made me whole, I will never cease to praise him; I’ll shout it while eternity rolls. He touched me, O He touched me, and O the joy that floods my soul! Something happened, and now I know He touched me and made me whole. ----- Benediction ----- Closing Response Shalom to You - Page 666 Please stand as We Sing ----- Shalom to you now, shalom, my friends.
